Alaia-The Art of Sculpting the Body

I´ve been following NYFW very closely and honestly, I´ve been a little overwhelmed with all the content being produced. But I still like all the collections and I do have many favorites. There is one I love the craftsmanship of which is Alaia´s Winter/ Spring 2025 collection. I think it keeps to its roots and shows off the artistic ability and knowledge of creative director Peter Mulier. So I'm talking about the things I noticed 

Many of these pieces were very tight-fit, which is a signature of Alaia by shaping the woman's body. I saw a lot of mini-skirts and many tube-top silhouettes. Which would be great for going on a tropical vacation. It makes the pieces of this collection accessible to mix and match to make the perfect outfit. I also like the minimalistness of the collection. Even with the experimentation of fur Mulier brings a sense of structure.

In these specific pieces, they show many of these qualities. However, I want to discuss more is the emphasis on the clothes looking like sculptures. Alaia´s founder studied sculpture as he was discovering his love for fashion. The chest shows this by sculpting the curves, and dips of the model's body, and the chest piece could resemble human anatomy with a little flair. The current creative director is doing great and sticking to the roots of the brand and is also at the same time giving it modern flair as well. And now that I´ve talked about some of the statement pieces from this collection. Let me show you some other highlights.

I love the influence of the long hoods that it reminds me of being mysterious but doing it in style, and I could see edgier customers planning to wear these hoods to master the aesthetic and or add a pop of color to their wardrobe.

The puffer jacket is very eye-catching, and it is very practical. When your best winter coat you are certain to find warmth in your jacket. It is also very chic and delicate compared to other puffer jackets in the regular market that don´t have much creativity to them. This puffer jacket makes you fashionable and warm. This isn´t the first Muiler has worked with puffer jackets but this was a new experimentation for Muiler. 

Overall I think this collection brings modern and older Alaia to the forefront, and I am happily looking forward to the next season and what Alaia will give to us then. The colors and shapes have captivated me and I´m excited
